Sophia Young

Tutor

I am a young mother originally from the South, living in the Monterey Peninsula. I was homeschooled starting in 6th grade and part of a Christian co-op which helped to further my relationship with God and my love of learning. I grew up serving in several capacities at church including child care, worship, and youth leadership. Throughout high school and college summers, I worked as a part-time nanny and tutored math for a private high school simultaneously.

I attended Grove City College, where I studied philosophy and mathematics. Ultimately, God called me to leave college, get married, and start a family. My husband and I have a young son and another on the way. I have lots of experience with children, but more importantly, I have a passion for connecting with them and showing them how fun learning really can be. Throughout school, I loved most of my subjects as I found beauty in all of them. However, I particularly loved learning math and studying the Bible.

James 1:2-3 has always been the Bible verse I stand by, as I find it very important to keep a joyful attitude no matter what we are facing. Ultimately our joy is found in the Lord, so if He is unwavering (and He is) then so should our joy be! Some hobbies I enjoy are spending time with my family and crocheting. I also love a nice nature walk and swimming.

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
